Help us Change these Stats…

An estimated 3.7 million children are out-of-school in Afghanistan – 60% of them are girls.

123 million young people between the ages of 15 and 24 who cannot read or write, 61 percent of them are women.

For every 100 boys enrolled in a primary school in Afghanistan, there are only about 70 girls.

Help us educate, empower and inspire Afghan women through education.

The Yalda Hakim Foundation

Established in 2018 by the acclaimed international journalist, Yalda Hakim, the Yalda Hakim Foundation (YHF) supports individuals from underprivileged social and economical backgrounds in Afghanistan. Recently, the foundation announced  the launch of the “New Afghan Scholars Initiative,” and a partnership with Oriel College, University of Oxford for undergraduate and masters studies respectively. The foundation also successfully evacuated AUAF students to safety at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and a large number of Afghans at risk (media figures and women leaders) were evacuated to a temporary site in Albania.

While the challenges facing Afghans, and especially Afghan young women, have never been greater, the mission of the Yalda Hakim Foundation—as the leading non-profit (organization) dedicated exclusively to creating educational opportunities for young Afghans—has never been more important.
